Web Design

When I decided to study Web Design in the United States, website design and development was not as advanced as it is now. Actually, there were no majors or college courses in Italy and there were not that many in the US either. However, I wanted to get the best experience I could get and I left for New York City. I obtained an Associate Degree in Science at CUNY Borough of Manhattan Community College with a specialization in Multimedia Programming and Design. The concentration of the program was about, obviously, web design and programming, but I have also taken art, computer hardware and programming classes. The main web programming language was ActionScript 3.0 for creating animations in Adobe Flash. During the last year of school, I have studied Javascript and PHP and Java as a computer programming language.

While studying I worked as a digital design intern at the Office of Educational Technology (EdTech) at CUNY Hostos Community College and became familiar with other media technologies: photography and video editing. After graduation I kept working at EdTech as an Instructional Design Assistant, while studying Computer Science at CUNY Hunter College where the main programming language was C++.

After I moved to California, I worked as a front-end web developer in a marketing web agency. Developing, updating and maintain WordPress sites were the primary duties, but I have also been introduced to the different digital marketing tactics.

At present time, I am working as an assistant web & technology administrator in a study abroad provider office. My primary responsibility is to manage and maintain the website and all the computers and devices. Also, because of my knowledge in digital marketing and graphic design, I have been improving the online visibility and brand of the company: designing newsletters, flyers, digital brochures and more.

Digital Marketing

All my projects are based on a specific strategy: Inbound Marketing. I’m certified in Inbound marketing from HubSpot and its marketing automation software. Inbound Marketing is a methodology that uses digital marketing assets to attract, convert, close and delight customers online.

The digital channels I have experience in are:

  • CMS Web site development & maintenance – WordPress, Concrete5 and proprietary platforms
  • Marketing Automation software – HubSpot, MailChimp & Salesforce
  • Email Marketing
  • Google Search Console & Analytics
  • Search Engine Optimization – SEO
  • Blog & Social Media

During my work experience, I have hand-coded many HTML and CSS marketing emails and other digital marketing assets, always maintaining the “look and feel” of the company brand.

Graphic Design

During school I took different art and design classes and I have been creating all sort of different things, from projects at work to personal projects. I find designing really fun and creative.

With Adobe Creative Suite is really possible to do many cool things. I’m very capable with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign and I understand the entire process of print design production from preparing the templates for custom projects to deciding the right paper for the best quality representation.

Italy

Many people tell me: “You have an accent. Where are you from?”

I’m Italian. I’m from Modena in Emilia Romagna. It’s 30 minutes away from Bologna and it’s in between Milan and Florence.

Modena is a cute town with around 180,000 people. It’s not as big as Milan or Rome, but there are many schools and Universities, shops and cultural activities. It is known for automotive industries like Ferrari and Maserati, the balsamic vinegar, opera singer Luciano Pavarotti, chef Massimo Bottura and …more.

The cuisine is spectacular. Many dishes are made with fresh hand made pasta like Totellini, Tortelloni, and Lasagne. An example of typical regionalfood is Tigella. Tigella is round bread that is cut in half and filled with anything you want, from cured meat, cheese to Nutella! A famous filling is lardo with grated Parmesan cheese.

Japan

People who know me, know how much I love Japan: I love the culture and especially the language.

After high school, I studied in Venice and obtained the Bachelor’s degree in Languages and Cultures of Eastern Asia at Ca’ Foscari. During the last year, I had the opportunity to travel to Japan, where I attended the Kyoto Institute of Culture and Language school for the spring semester. It was an amazing study abroad experience in Kyoto, where I lived with a Japanese family and participated to many cultural and traditional activities like “Hanami” (Cherry Blossom Festival) drinking green tea while watching the beautiful cherry tree flowers. I also visited Tokyo for two weeks during the Golden Week and travelled with the Shinkansen. Tokyo reminds me of New York City, but it’s awesome nonetheless!
